Forever stamps, First-Class Mail could become more expensive this summer: Here's why

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:36:32 GMT

(NEXSTAR) – In January, sending a piece of mail became more expensive than ever after the United States Postal Service enacted its third price hike in roughly a year. Now, USPS is asking for yet another price hike to offset inflation. On Monday, USPS filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission asking for price changes across multiple services, including First-Class Mail Forever stamps. If the proposed increases are approved, prices for First-Class Mail would rise about 5.4% "to offset the rise in inflation," the federal agency said. That includes a 3-cent increase on Forever stamps, which would push them to 66 cents. USPS raised the cost of Forever stamps in January from 60 cents to 63 cents. Does your state allow teachers to carry a gun? Forever stamps, regardless of when they are purchased, are accepted in perpetuity, hence the name. That means if you have some already — even if you bought them at a lower price — the stamps are still accepted to mail letters. In addition ...

Loons’ lack of possession, much less offense, directly contributes to Chicago goals in team’s first loss

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:36:32 GMT

The offense — or lack there of — was a contributing culprit in Minnesota United’s defense allowing two first-half goals in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Fire on Saturday.Moments before Kei Kamara opened up the scoring in the 24th minute, Loons striker Luis Amarilla’s poor touch led to a turnover in the middle of the field and the Fire striker capitalized with a goal on his former team. Before Kamara scored his second goal in the 35th minute, Robin Lod’s errant pass in the center circle gave the ball back to Chicago. The Fire then put together 17 consecutive passes — an indicting number on its own — to set up Arnaud Souquet’s assist to Kamara’s header goal.Loons manager Adrian Heath told his players Tuesday morning why he thought their five-match unbeaten start to the season came to an end. “I thought we didn’t compete enough,” he said. “(We) were second in every phase of the game, whether that was with the ball or without the ball, transition.”Minnesota (3-1-2) gave up two goals in...

How can you best accessorize an ankle monitor? The question must have run through Tina Peters’ mind when County Judge Bruce Raaum sentenced her to four months of monitored home detention and 120 hours of community service for a misdemeanor obstruction conviction. The notorious former Mesa County clerk turned conspiracy theorist lawbreaker was sentenced for trying to stop authorities from accessing evidence of a crime.Ever the snazzy dresser, Peters could easily bedazzle the ankle monitor to match her jewelry. Since she’ll be back in court this fall on more serious charges, Peters should consider starting her own prison chic boutique. That way Jan. 6ers and other convicts can benefit from her sense of style. Perhaps something most terrific in a man’s ankle size?Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein, a Republican, had hoped for jail time in this sentencing but was glad that Peters will have to do community service “to pay back the community for the damage she did to it.” Indeed,...
