Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Oakland Park District are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating burglars who allegedly stole a bag containing two firearms and electronics from a vehicle in early September.According to BSO, surveillance footage captured two suspects arriving at the Oakland Park Flea Market in a black Nissan Titan truck around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. The thieves entered the business individually around the time the victim left the business with his bag. The victim then got in his car and left the parking lot. A short time later, the burglars left the business together in the truck, which, authorities said, had a stolen license plate. Detectives believe they trailed the victim to a business located in the 1300 block of East Commercial Boulevard. During the victim’s brief absence, BSO said the perpetrators broke into his vehicle and made off with the bag, containing two Glock handguns and two pairs of Apple Air Pod...Marjory Stoneman Douglas marching band to shine in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Happy Wednesday, South Florida!Hopefully everyone has had a nice week so far. The last few days have been relatively quiet with just a few scattered showers to start the week and then slightly drier conditions across South Florida on Tuesday. Temperatures have been a degree or two warmer than average, however, with humidity levels not too high it hasn’t felt all too bad around here. And while this morning started off rather quiet, once again, temperatures were running anywhere between 4-7 degrees warmer than yesterday. This is a sign that the weather pattern is slowly beginning to change for us. So let’s talk a little bit about the current situation across South Florida. A front has been stalled across our area through the last couple of days. Meanwhile, an area of low pressure in the Southwestern Gulf of Mexico is being monitored by the National Hurricane Center for possible development. As this low drifts northward, it will eventually merge with the front over our state and help ...Russians intensify blitzkrieg attacks in eastern Ukraine

KYIV — Russian forces have launched a series of massive attacks involving thousands of troops as well as tanks and armored vehicles on Ukrainian positions in the east of the country in an effort to encircle Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian side has lost control over some positions on the northern outskirts of Avdiivka, but the military says it is still holding on to key parts of the industrial city, only 20 kilometers west of the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk. Avdiivka has been under continuous Russian attack for two days, and fires are burning throughout the shattered remnants of the city. Before the war, the city had a population of 32,000; some 1,700 civilians remain. “The situation is difficult. Intense fighting continues for the second day. The encirclement threat has existed for almost a year, but our forces keep holding defense lines,” Vitalli Barabash, Adviivka military administration head, told POLITICO in a quick message from the frontline. The Ukrainian military spelled ...German antidiscrimination body ditches X

Germany’s Antidiscrimination Agency has announced it will no longer maintain a presence on X, the platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk. In a series of posts published on X, on Wednesday, the agency said it could no longer justify staying on the platform amid “the enormous increase in trans and queer hostility, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and other misanthropic content,” adding “in our opinion, X is no longer an acceptable environment for the profile of a public body.”The federal agency also took a swing at Musk, saying hate speech and disinformation on the platform increased particularly after “the change in ownership.” Musk completed his purchase of X, then called Twitter, almost a year ago. The agency said that right-wing extremist accounts that were previously blocked have been reactivated on the platform. It also claimed in its posts on X that so-called troll factories that spread pro-Russian propaganda have apparently purchased v...Quiet… For Now

Despite some clouds and a few sprinkles/brief light shower across the region this morning, it’ll turn out to be a mainly dry day with partly sunny skies this afternoon. Temps do warm up into the mid to upper 60s, slightly above seasonable levels this afternoon. Tomorrow, it’ll be very similar with highs in the mid 60s to near 70 after a seasonably chilly start. Friday turns out to be slightly cooler, back into the lower 60s, but we’ll stay dry. We continue the cool down heading into the weekend with temperatures sliding back into the mid to upper 50s for highs. We’ll also watch the chance for rain moving in late Saturday into Sunday. How much rain depends on how far north and area of low pressure will track. That’ll be the difference from spotty showers to steady rain for Sunday, into early next week. The cool onshore flow prevails early next week as well.Chicago Bears Q&A: What if Caleb Williams refused to come to Chicago? How many wins would it take to say the team is on the upswing?
