Jersey Mike's says it will donate 100% of Wednesday's sales to charity (KFDX/KJTL) — All Jersey Mike's Subs locations nationwide are participating in a Day of Giving by donating all of the day's sales to local nonprofit organizations. According to a press release from the company, 100% of all sales made – not just the day's profits – on Wednesday will be donated to a charity serving the area where the store is located. The company estimates $20 million will be donated by day's end. The charity initiative is part of Jersey Mike's 13th annual Month of Giving fundraising campaign, which culminates in the company's nationwide Day of Giving.All of Jersey Mike's nearly 2,500 U.S. locations are participating, but where the money goes varies based on location. Summit Avenue bike trail opponent sues St. Paul for emails, text messages, studies Robert Cattanach, an attorney opposed to a proposed elevated bike trail along Summit Avenue, has filed a lawsuit and request for a temporary restraining order against the city of St. Paul, claiming violations of the state’s Data Practices Act.Cattanach, a partner with Dorsey and Whitney, has been providing free legal counsel to Save Our Street, the coalition of residents opposed to the bike trail, as well as the Summit Avenue Residential Preservation Association. Kingston man arrested for drug charges, driving with a suspended license ULSTER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Ulster Police Department arrested Joshua J. Thaisz, 41, of Kingston, at 2:23 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Thaisz was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree. Police discovered that Thaisz was driving with a suspended license. Police say Thaisz had a quantity of heroin and drug paraphernalia on his person. Second warrant to be issued for armed robbery suspect GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Tuesday, the Glenville Police Department arrested Jason Giordano, 37, of Schenectady. The robbery occurred at the Speedway at 123 Freemans Bridge Road on the morning of March 9. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. Giordano was scheduled to appear in Glenville Town Court at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday but failed to show up. EPA finds radioactive contamination in more areas of West Lake Landfill BRIDGETON — Radioactive waste in the West Lake Landfill is more widespread than previously thought, officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday.The finding is based on two years of testing at the St. Louis County site, which has held thousands of tons of radioactive waste for decades. An underground “fire” in another area of the landfill threatens to exacerbate the issue, which residents believe is responsible for a host of mysterious illnesses.Chris Jump, the EPA’s remedial project manager for the site, said the findings don’t change the agency’s planned cleanup strategy or the level of risk the site poses to the surrounding residents.
