AUSTIN (Nexstar) — On Saturday, former GOP appellate judge Marc Brown declined a prestigious appointment by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to assist in presiding over suspended Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial. He had a history of political donations that could harm the public's trust, he said, after donating $250 to Eva Guzman — one of Paxton's 2022 primary opponents who campaigned on assertions that the now-suspended Attorney General was unfit for office."The proceedings... are far too important to the State of Texas for there to be any distractions involving allegations of favoritism or personal bias on my part," he said.Patrick accepted his declination. 15-Year-Old Cyclist Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident on Marlon Brando AvenueLAS VEGAS, NV (August 21, 2023) – Friday evening, Michael Terrazus was killed in a bicycle collision on South Hollywood Boulevard.Police responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m., near Marlon Brando Avenue on July 28th.Officers say the driver of a 2013 Nissan Altima was heading north on South Hollywood Boulevard. There, a teenage cyclist rode directly into the path of the Nissan and struck the front of the vehicle just south of Marlon Brando Avenue.Paramedics arrived and transported the bicyclist to Sunrise Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Three Injured in School Bus Collision on U.S. 285CHAVES COUNTY, NM (August 21, 2023) – Tuesday morning, three victims sustained injuries in a bus crash on Darby Road.The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m., at the intersection of Darby Road and U.S. 285 on August 15th.Per reports, the driver of a school bus turned onto the freeway directly into the path of a northbound 2015 Ford pickup-truck.Medics arrived and transported the 56-year-old female driver of the Ford and her 4-year-old passenger to a hospital with minor injuries. In addition, crews took a child that was on the bus to a hospital for treatment.Furthermore, the authorities stated that all other occupants of the bus did not suffer any major injuries.
